HBO’s Westworld is a futuristic thriller, based on artificial intelligence and what impact it could have on human beings. When the robots inside Westworld begin to ask some unwanted questions, simple storylines turn into bloodbaths as the human guests run for their lives.

The series is mind-bending and thought-provoking. There are a lot of different characters, ranging from killer hosts to sadistic guests and there are the good ones too who get lost amidst the chaos.

Updated on June 23rd, 2022, by Stuart Kilmartin: With Westworld set to return to HBO for a fourth season this month, fans of the series will soon be reunited with the show’s collection of hosts and humans. While Westworld has featured a vast array of diverse characters since its beginning, some of the characters have been more likable than others. As the series has progressed, and new characters have been introduced, there is still a clear selection of fan-favorite characters.

The Most Likable Characters In Westworld

Stubbs

Ashley Stubbs is introduced in the series as one of the chief security members of the park, who makes sure the hosts and guests are safe. But as the series goes on, he becomes more complex, asking different questions and getting no compelling responses.

In season 3, though, he is revealed to be another one of the hosts, designed by Ford to make sure the hosts are safe. He is a good friend to Bernard and although his programming is quite limited, he does what is necessary to protect someone he is bound to.

Hector

Hector is one of the hosts, who himself is involved in a never-ending storyline full of blood and betrayal. But, when he is shown what is really happening in the park by Maeve, he falls in love with her and together they go on a journey to find Maeve’s daughter.

Throughout the three seasons of the show so far, Hector shows compassion, generosity, and selflessness. Along with that, he also has wonderful comic timing.

Lee Sizemore

Lee Sizemore is one of the heads at Delos, who concerns himself with making storylines for the hosts. But, he does not matter much as Ford does not respect his ideas, nor does Delos. Even though he is hardworking, he does not find a cause to work for before he meets Maeve.

He provides comic relief in the series, along with his brilliant accent. And although he is human, he has a certain connection to the hosts, which is shown by his willingness to sacrifice himself for Maeve’s freedom.

Maeve

Maeve is one of the first hosts who starts remembering things about her past and asks questions about the world she lives in. After some blackmail and killing, she gets the truth and that makes her angry for a certain time.

Maeve is most concerned with making sure that her daughter is safe, even though it costs her her freedom in the process.

Bernard

Bernard is a host created by Ford and Dolores. He resembles Arnold, Ford’s partner who helped to create the hosts. He is a caring man, who lives in the dark regarding his true nature, thanks to Ford’s memory wiping. Even though he has done some terrible things, he was never in control, Ford was.

When one of his creators finally dies, Bernard tries to find his own purpose and after some thinking time, he understands what he has to do, find a home for his kind and help the humans survive. Season 3 ended with Charlotte’s host deciding to wage war against humanity and if there’s one man who can help find a truce, it’s Bernard.

Westworld Characters That Fans Can Not Stand

Ford

Dr. Robot Ford is the revolutionary mind behind the creation of the hosts, who he co-created with Arnold, however, his way of thinking is quite evil. He hates human beings, that much is clear, and in the end, he displays his selfish nature. He did not want anyone else to have control of his creations, so he decided to wage a war when it was time for retirement.

He used a lot of hosts, among them was Bernard, who struggles with the actions he was forced to do while under Ford’s control.

Logan

Logan, portrayed by Ben Barnes, in one of his best roles, is the one who takes William to Westworld and he is the one who starts William’s transformation into The Man in Black.

Logan is a stereotypical wealthy villain type, who is cocky and wants all his desires to be fulfilled, no matter what the cost. He is not patient, he rushes into making his decisions and struggles with addiction, leading to his death.

Charlotte Hale

Charlotte Hale is an independent woman, who is one of the top officials in Delos. However, her way of working is quite loathsome. She is psychotic, manipulative, does not feel remorse for her actions, and will stop at nothing to survive in the cruel world the show presents.

She kills Elsie and is one of the biggest reasons why Theresa gets murdered. When she dies, Dolores converts her into a host and her family dies because of it.

Dolores

Dolores Westworld Season 3

Dolores is someone the audience sympathizes with during the beginning of the series. However, when her true nature is revealed, and her hidden Wyatt persona comes to the surface, she becomes someone else entirely. The change is so drastic that she even alters the man she loves, Teddy.

While Dolores makes some meaningful relationships in her lifetime, most of them were for her own selfish gain. For example, in season 3, she uses Caleb to do what she wants with little consideration for him. Of the many villains in the show, she has not faced sufficient consequences for her actions.

The Man In Black

The Man in Black is revealed as William towards the middle part of the first season and it’s a genuinely terrifying reveal. Because William seemed kind, while The Man in Black is one of the show’s biggest villains.

He has lived in Westworld for so many years, that he can not even understand the difference between what’s real and what’s not. He is the reason why his wife commits suicide and he even kills his own daughter, believing her to be a host. He is genuinely loathsome throughout the entire series.
