Keeping everyone alive until the end of The Quarry involves a lot of important decision-making, as well as various quick-time events that need to be completed. Killing characters can be as easy as going the wrong way or choosing the wrong response, and players typically have just a short amount of time to react when faced with a choice. It could take a few tries to save everyone, so it may be helpful to periodically save manually as progress is made.
Not every decision will affect the outcome of the story. Many of the social interactions can alter the dialogue between characters, but not necessarily their survival chances. Although, it is generally beneficial to keep everyone amicable. Players should also be aware that sometimes the right decision is to do nothing. There are some quick-time events that should be intentionally failed in order to keep everyone alive and get the best ending in The Quarry.
Every chapter, including the prologue, has important decisions that are very easily missed. Wrong choices won’t always lead to death, but some minor decisions can make it impossible to save everyone. In order to keep everyone alive, some characters will inevitably turn into monsters or get seriously injured, but their curses will be lifted and injuries sustained can be managed so that the necessary characters make it to the end of The Quarry.
Prologue Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
After running back to the car, Travis will approach, and players should choose the honest dialogue option twice. Later in the prologue, Laura and Max should take the wrenches to break into the bunker. After Max is injured, players should choose to help him. When speaking to the old woman at the end of the prologue, and in every subsequent chapter, always choose the move on option in The Quarry.
Chapter One Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
As Jacob, players should choose the polite and friendly options when speaking to Kaitlyn. After the conversation, Jacob will go toward the minivan, and players will need to break the fuel line. Next, Abigail and Emma should break in to the hut, then Abigail needs to keep the teddy bear located on the left. This item is needed to save Abigail later.
Chapter Two Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
When Emma exits the lodge, she should call Jacob to come over, then open the safe in the stash room. However, Emma needs to leave the fireworks in the safe for the best outcome. Players will go inside Hackett’s office after switching over to Dylan and Ryan. Dylan will be able to interact with the trap door and climb down, then choose the playful dialogue option in the basement for the best ending to be unlocked in The Quarry.
Chapter Three Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
After Nick is attacked, Abigail needs to help him by luring the monster away and successfully completing quick-time events. When prompted, do not climb the tree. Instead, wait for the timer to run out. A breath holding challenge will trigger that needs to succeed to keep Abigail alive. Once players control Ryan again, he needs to take the shortcut both times, then choose shout and shoot to save Nick. The next important decision comes when Jacob is caught in a trap and released by a hunter. When given the option to throw dirt, players should refuse to avoid being attacked later.
Chapter Four Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
When Ryan hears a noise in the bushes, he must choose not to shoot both times. Jacob will appear from the bushes, then Ryan needs to drop the gun to avoid any accidental deaths from The Quarry‘s main cast. Next, Emma will climb up into a tree house and should examine the bags rather than the trap door. Doing so will give Emma a taser, then she can go to the trap door. After interacting with it, a monster will pop out, and the taser can be used on it before a chase sequence begins.
There are several quick-time events to complete throughout the chase, but players will also need to choose to use the bear spray, block the door, and use the trapdoor when prompted to keep Emma alive. At the end of the chapter, players will control Dylan. The optimistic and determined dialogue options should be chosen when speaking to Ryan so he ends up with the gun. Finally, as Emma, players will need to go slowly across the zipline and ignore any opportunity to speed up.
Chapter Five Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
Nick should choose the grateful dialogue option when speaking to Abigail following the game’s previous chapter. When everyone starts hearing sounds, players should refuse to speak up, then reassure Kaitlyn when she goes to investigate. Kaitlyn will then need to complete a breath holding challenge. The same type of event will occur again with Nick and Abigail next, so they should hide and hold their breath until the hunter is gone. When Dylan and Ryan are exploring, there will be some sounds above them, but not shooting is the right choice. At the end of the chapter, Dylan is bitten, and players will need to choose the desperate option. The chainsaw will be used to amputate Dylan’s hand so he can survive.
Chapter Six Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
When the chase starts, Jacob needs to hide, then hold his breath until the monster leaves. After being caught in a bear trap, Jacob can try to pry it open, but he knocked out shortly after. In the next section, Kaitlyn will need to intervene when Nick starts acting differently, but she also needs to help him when he’s in the pool so he doesn’t drown. When Nick lunges at Abigail, she has to shoot him, otherwise he transforms and Abigail dies in The Quarry. After switching to Emma, players should not run when given the opportunity. At the end of the chapter, Ryan will need to choose the reassuring, suspicious, and interested dialogue prompts.
Chapter Seven Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
In the flashback, Laura can’t call out or use any of the dialogue options to lash out at Travis. Instead, she should be compliant, and she should not call for help in the later scene. Eventually, Laura will break out of the cell, and she can go to the top floor. Inside a locker in the last office, there’s a syringe that can be collected before Laura goes to sleep. After waking up, Laura needs to choose the honest and confident dialogue options, then refuse to grab the gun. When Travis goes into the cell, Laura can use the syringe on him with a successful quick-time event and escape.
Chapter Eight Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
The worst decisions that could ruin the game don’t come until the end of chapter eight when Ryan and Laura are in the tunnel. There are some dialogue options and quick-time events to successfully complete earlier in the chapter, so players should just choose the friendlier options and complete the events. Once inside the tunnel, Ryan should not open the cage, but he needs to stop Laura from firing the shotgun, and then help Jacob. When choosing the breakers, Ryan needs to pick the first and second, then the second and third.
Chapter Nine Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
In chapter nine, the Hacketts can be killed without losing the possibility for the best ending. It is not necessary to kill them, but it makes it much easier to escape and keep everyone alive. When the chapter starts, Constance will turn off the lights and rush Laura, so players need to mash the action button. This will cause Laura to accidentally shoot and kill Constance. In the next cutscene, Ryan will be stabbed, and there’s no way to prevent it. However, it is important that he does not pull out the knife at this time.
There are some quick-time events and breath holding challenges to get through before Laura is confronted by Jed. Laura needs to dodge left three times, then choose the attack option when prompted to kill Jed. After switching back to Ryan, players will need to dodge left, then right before completing a breath holding challenge. Ryan will then be able to pull the knife out of his side and stab Bobby with it. He will flee, but the injury will kill him later. After stabbing Bobby, Ryan needs to choose the sympathetic, accept, and do not pull away options in order to keep this character alive.
After switching to Dylan, he will need to warn Kaitlyn whenever prompted and mash the action button to avoid being killed be monsters. Next, Abigail must inspect the fuse box to grab some silver shells before climbing up the ladder. At the end of chapter nine, Laura will transform, but she turns back after Ryan chooses to shoot the monster.
Chapter Ten Choices To Keep Everyone Alive In The Quarry
Since the monster was shot in the previous chapter, Max’s curse is lifted, but he needs to choose to stay. The swim to shore option will lead to Max quickly being ambushed by one of the game’s disturbing monsters. Switching to Kaitlyn will begin the final portion of the game in the lodge, and she needs to prepare for the attack. The next few choices are run, beam, mash the action button, run, investigate, and shoot.
When playing as Laura, she should be inquisitive, then quickly grab the gun when the opportunity appears. Laura will then need to take cover and choose the determined dialogue option, as well as complete a quick-time event. After giving Ryan the shotgun, Silas will attack, but the gun should not be raised. The next quick-time event must be failed or Laura will die. After failing, the option to shoot Silas will appear, and doing so will ensure everyone’s safety. As long as the path was followed correctly, a final cutscene will play showing the best possible ending in The Quarry.
