The first Joker movie wasn’t anything like fans expected and the possibility of the sequel being a musical continues that trend. The movie proved that Warner Bros. could create DC movies set outside the DCEU and it tailored itself for adult audiences, while also being completely unlike any other superhero movie on the market. It was more a Martin Scorsese character breakdown than a comic book movie.
This also allowed Joker to deliver some great quotes in the movie, as he figured out his path in life. From his start as an aspiring comedian to his eventual talk show breakdown, Joker couldn’t stop talking and Ranker picked out some great quotes to name the best of the best. While he was an unreliable narrator every step of the way, the Joker quotes spread throughout the movie showed how he viewed society and his place in it.

10 Joker Revealing His Life Feelings
“The worst part of having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you do not.”
The main theme of Todd Phillips’ Joker movie surrounds the mental health of Arthur Fleck. He is an aspiring comedian who lives with his mother and struggles when interacting with other people. He also keeps a journal, and some of his quotes come directly from that journal.
“The worst part of having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you do not,” Arthur wrote in his journal. This was a problem that Arthur had in most of the movie, as no one from his mother to his social worker cared about his mental well-being.
9 Joker Has Jokes
“You get what you f ** kin ‘deserve!”
Arthur Fleck had one major dream, and that was to be a standup comedian. When he got a chance to do it, someone in the audience recorded his performance, which was a disaster, and Fleck became a sensation when it went viral and the man he looked up to, nighttime talk host Murray Franklin, treated him like a joke. .
Fleck finally got to appear on the show and wanted to tell Murray a joke, but the host would not listen and demanded the police come. “What do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash?” Arthur asked. “I’ll tell you what you get! You get what you f ** kin ‘deserve!” That was followed by the film’s most shocking moment.
8 Joker Only Has One Type Of Thought
“All I have are negative thoughts.”
Early in the movie, Arthur had to go see a social worker who was trying to help him and his mother. However, as fans saw through Arthur’s eyes, the social worker was just going through the measures and did not seem to care what Arthur was really going through.
This came to a head when he said, “You do not listen, do you? You just ask the same questions every week. ‘How’s your job?’ ‘Are you having any negative thoughts?’ All I have are negative thoughts. ” This was one person who could have stopped the tragedy that was still to come.
7 Joker Writing In His Journal
“I hope my death makes more cents than my life.”
Arthur continued to write in his journal, and that is where he revealed a lot of his feelings that were leading him to disaster. He saw his dream of becoming a comedian bombing, realized he was not able to get and hold down a job, and that his mother was weighing him down.
In this journal, Arthur wrote the one thing that seemed to make his story more tragic than ever. “I hope my death makes more cents than my life,” he wrote, admitting that nothing made sense to him anymore.
6 Joker Is Coming Into His Own
“People Are Starting To Notice.”
As the movie wore on, it was clear that Arthur Fleck was losing complete touch with reality. In the end, it was unclear what in the movie was real and what was in his head, as many of his best moments turned out to be delusions. These really started when he became somewhat famous.
Arthur saw people talking about him, and while he could not distinguish between people making fun of him and people wanting to be just like him, he finally was getting attention. “For my whole life, I did not know if I even really existed. But I do, and people are starting to notice,” he said.
5 Life Is A Comedy
“I used to think that my life was a tragedy, but now I realize it’s a comedy.”
For the first half of Joker, Arthur Fleck seemed to be drifting through life, knowing that everything he touched was ruined and that he had no hope and no future at all. He was depressed, could not get help from his social worker, and the only person he could connect with in real life was his mother.
However, there came a point in the movie where he realized that his life might not be the best, but the joke was on everyone else and he just decided that was what made him happy. “I used to think that my life was a tragedy, Arthur said,” but now I realize it’s a comedy. “
4 Joker Makes A Proclamation
“Have You Seen What It’s Like Out There?”
While Arthur Fleck watched his life fall apart and eventually change, he also noticed something else. There were people on the streets who were bad, and they got away with it. He was beaten up in an ally and the sign he needed for work was stolen, costing him his job. The wealthy in Gotham City treated him like garbage.
He realized that no matter what thoughts he was having, and how much he hated his life, there were people out in the world who deserved karma, leading to Joker becoming a villain. “Nobody’s civil anymore. Nobody thinks what it’s like to be the other guy,” Arthur said. “You think men like Thomas Wayne ever think what it’s like to be someone like me? To be somebody but themselves? They do not. They think that we’ll just sit there and take it, like good little boys! That we won ‘t werewolf and go wild! “
3 Joker Looking At The Outside World
“Is It Getting Crazier Out There?”
By the end, the entire basis of society crumbled. If the end was meant to be seen literally, the crowds in Gotham City got tired of getting pushed around and struck back, with the Joker being partially responsible. However, even if it was just in Joker’s own imagination, it was still what he saw the world turning into.
Joker has always had one thought in DC – both the comics and the live-action movies. He wanted to see society burn. He saw as much when he looked out and said, “Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?”
2 Joker Claims His Name
“Introduce Me As Joker.”
Arthur finally saw his dream come true. He always wanted to be a standup comedian and he wanted to go onto a big stage and share his jokes, to make people laugh. After his failed standup show went viral, he got invited to be on Murray Franklin’s late-night talk show.
This was a turning point for Arthur. When Murray was talking to him in the dressing room, Arthur asked for one favor. “Murray, one small thing?” Arthur asked. “When you bring me out, can you introduce me as Joker?” The transformation was complete, and Joker’s origin story was underway.
1 Joker Thought Of A Joke
“You Wouldn’t Get It.”
There has been a lot said about Joker. It picked up Oscar nominations, including for Best Picture, but in some circles, fans complained about it and ridiculed Joker for wearing its influences on its sleeves like a badge of honor. The Joker got the same treatment in the movie itself by everyone around him.
Arthur Fleck knew that he was losing his grip on his sanity. He was breaking down every time he looked at himself in the mirror. He lost control on a bus, going from laughing to dramatically crying. When he told his social worker he thought of a funny joke, she asked him to share it with her. “You would not get it,” he responded, knowing that no one would ever understand him.
