How Loki Survived In Thor 2 And Possible Thor 4 Appearance

In Loki season 1, episode 2, it is revealed how the trickster god survived his apparent death in Thor: The Dark World. Loki has always delighted in cheating death, manipulating others into believing he was dead in order to hatch his next scheme. At the end of Thor, he apparently took his own life – but Loki survived death by plunging into one of the many portals he knew could be found in Yggdrasil. Given Loki’s slippery nature and ability to navigate portals, is Loki in Thor: Love and Thunder‘s cast?

Adding to this speculation is how the God of Mischief repeated this survival trick in Thor: The Dark World much more effectively. He joined Thor in battle against the Dark Elves, apparently redeeming himself, but “died” when he was stabbed in the chest. Thor grieved the loss of his brother, but viewers soon learned he had not really died at all. Loki episode 2 finally answered this question, in an entertaining scene in which “Professor Loki” briefed Mobius M. Mobius and the TVA on his own powers. Loki objected to Mobius’s confusion between illusion projection and duplication casting, revealing that a duplicate is far more than just an illusion. Apparently, Loki possesses the ability to project an exact doppelgänger of himself, which he describes as “an exact facsimile of one’s own body in its present circumstance … a true holographic mirror of its molecular structure“This is likely how Loki faked his death in Thor: The Dark World – by creating a perfect body double. True to his godly title, Loki’s illusion and duplication powers can make the character’s future appearances rather confusing. Should Loki return in the fourth Thor movie, audiences will wonder if it really is Loki in Thor: Love and Thunder or just a body double playing yet another trick on Thor.

Loki’s MCU Powers Explained

It’s tempting to dismiss this power, as even the TVA was unaware that illusion casting and duplication projection are very different skills. Though ultimately clueless about his next step, Loki’s luck saves him again, as it seems that he at least won’t have to immediately resist arrest at the beginning of Loki season 2. Moreover, Loki’s godlike luck suggests that he could be, even though Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi have strenuously denied it.

Is Loki In Thor: Love And Thunder?

Every Thor: Love and Thunder promotion has been suspiciously devoid of any clues or mentions of Loki or his world, which is why it likely that Loki will make an appearance at any point in the film. Indeed, the Thor: Love and Thunder The trailer shows how the fourth movie focuses on the God of Thunder’s transformative journey and search for purpose as Thor picks himself up and starts processing the grief, depression, and trauma caused by the events in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.
