Grand Theft Auto 6 can be the series’ biggest game yet, and it could celebrate that with cameos of characters from other Grand Theft Auto titles. The series has plenty of characters to choose from, and although plenty are dead by the end of their games, there are still several others available who could appear in GTA 6. GTA may not be known for continuity, but it can still revisit old characters.
Grand Theft Auto has been around since the first game’s release in 1997, and it has become one of the biggest franchises in gaming. Although the series is no stranger to controversy, it has never slowed down, only getting more popular with every new entry. GTA 5 was the biggest release for the series yet, and it included several cameos from past characters – GTA 4‘s Packie McCreary returned in GTA Online‘s Casino Heist, for instance. Because that strategy was so successful, there is no reason why Grand Theft Auto 6 can’t attempt the same, especially if it returns to a familiar locale such as Vice City.
GTA has seen a wide variety of colorful protagonists, antagonists, and side characters through the years, and many of them have the potential for another appearance. Whether they’re furthering their old stories or creating something new, their strong personalities can elevate their plotlines. Some characters just happen to be perfectly set up for a return in Grand Theft Auto 6.
Madd Dogg’s Career From San Andreas Could Continue Into GTA 6
Madd Dogg is a rapper who played a major role in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas despite his relatively limited screentime. Early in the game, the status-seeking OG Loc directs CJ to steal Madd Dogg’s lyrics and kill his manager. While this allows Loc to rise, it also destroys Madd Dogg’s career. Late in the game, long after CJ gets betrayed in GTA: San Andreas‘Surprising twist, he saves Madd Dogg’s life to make up for his past sins, becomes the fallen rapper’s manager and confronts OG Loc. After CJ defeats Loc, Madd Dogg is able to revive his career.
Although set in the 3D Universe and not the HD Universe introduced in Grand Theft Auto 4, it is possible that Rockstar could bring Loc back. By the time of GTA 6, a lot of time will have passed since the last time Madd Dogg made an appearance. He may still be producing music, or he could have branched out into other ventures. Like his original voice actor Ice-T, he could have begun an acting career. Whatever he may be doing, Madd Dogg’s career is likely still ongoing considering how popular he was in-universe in San Andreas. The player could come across whatever his next venture is, and thanks to the chaos of the GTA universe, he’ll likely need their help. Being a rather nice and reasonable character, a rarity considering GTA has many characters who should not return, he is someone the protagonist would likely need little prompting to help. By helping him out, the player would likely get a nice reward, such as a large amount of money or even a new property.
Madd Dogg was quite pleasant, a rare trait in GTA characters, especially considering his celebrity status. However, his role is important, and his story leaves him with the chance to return again. Considering what a nice guy he is, a fun mission chain from him would probably be a good time in GTA 6.
GTA 4’s Marnie Allen Could Finally Get Her Happy Ending In GTA 6
Marnie Allen from Grand Theft Auto 4 is one of the series’ more tragic random characters. She was addicted to drugs, and somehow who Niko helped to get back on her feet. By the end of the game, she goes back to her family and applies for college. For a series so bleak that even Rockstar’s co-founder says that GTA 6 should be less edgy, it was a surprisingly happy ending. However, she returns in GTA 5 by revealing that she fell into the Epsilon Program cult and gave up on her ambitions. It was quite an upsetting discovery for those who had helped her in the previous game.
Come GTA 6, Marnie could come back with a new plotline featuring the Epsilonists as antagonists. She could be trying to escape the cult after realizing that their leader Cris Formage is a con man, but needs protection from his loyal followers and hired guns. The GTA 6 protagonist would make a perfect bodyguard, taking down threats from the Epsilonists as they get more and more desperate. In addition, another mission line involving the Epsilon Program would mean that their slimy leader Cris Formage could get another, even bigger defeat than the one Michael dealt him in GTA 5.
Much like GTA 5‘s unnecessary torture scene, ruining Marnie’s happy ending feels like unjust darkness. Getting Marnie back on track towards her more optimistic future would be rewarding, especially for GTA 4 players. It would also make Marnie a rare character to have a storyline across three GTA entries. There would be a lot of upside for one last hurrah with Marnie, and Grand Theft Auto 6 could give her a great final chapter.
GTA 5’s Michael De Santa Could Be A Special Guest Star In GTA 6
Everyone who played Grand Theft Auto 5 should remember Michael, one of the game’s playable protagonists. By the end of that game, provided the player chose Ending C, he is doing very well for himself. He is rich, his family situation is improving, and he got to meet his idol Solomon Richards, a Vinewood movie producer. Most notably, Michael seems to be in the business himself following the events of the canonical Ending C. Further to that, a recent datamine of GTA Online may hint at Michael excelling in Hollywood, meaning he could be set to follow Franklin with some GTA Online content of his own.
Michael appearing in GTA 6 as a part of a movie shoot could be an excellent nostalgia trip for players. It could drop some hints on how things have gone for Michael in the time since his own adventure came to an end, and perhaps some updates or appearances from the rest of his family as well. Even though he retired from the criminal lifestyle, one mission could even have him fight alongside the player, considering GTA 5 demonstrated his competence very well. In general, it would also be good to see one of the previous protagonists actually being successful following their game.
Regardless of who one thinks is Grand Theft Auto 5‘s best protagonist, Michael has arguably the biggest story of the three, and it deserves to be followed up on. Michael’s epilogue lends itself to further appearances in the series, and some GTA 5 players could be happy to see him again. Franklin’s return in GTA Online went over well, so Michael showing up in GTA 6 could achieve the same success.
Grand Theft Auto‘s past has plenty of faces that still have more to offer. Whether they appear for a simple side mission or bring a questline along with them, another contribution to the series would serve them and the game well. By bringing in cameos from the series’ past Grand Theft Auto 6 can be a celebration of the games in addition to being a solid addition to the franchise.
