Throughout Season of the Haunted in Destiny 2, Guardians will need to find the locations of and listen to every Calus Automaton in the Sever activities. Sever is the Season of the Haunted quest activity that pits Guardians against the Nightmares that haunt some of the game’s main characters like Crow, Zavala, and Caiatl. There are six different missions that can be completed as the season goes on, with a new step released each week alongside the Bound in Sorrow quest in Destiny 2. Typically, seasonal quest activities are completed alongside friends or random fireteams, but what makes Sever unique is that each mission can be completed solo. This allows Guardians to explore the Derelict Leviathan to find the location of every Calus Automaton during each Sever mission at their own pace.
The Calus Automatons are tethered to the mind of Calus himself, despite being broken beyond repair. When the Guardian approaches them, they’ll kick on for a brief time as Calus cryptically discusses what he has learned by embarrassing the Darkness, and what is to come in the future. While finding the location of each automaton is not necessary for completing the mission, nor will it impede the actual mission, they are necessary for unlocking the Reaper title for Season of the Hauntedjust like the Calus bobbleheads in Destiny 2 are required for the title as well. Fortunately, all of the Sever missions can be repeated at any time if any Guardian misses a location, but unlike the bobbleheads, the Calus Automatons will always respawn and reactivate anytime they’re approached in a repeated mission. Be sure to keep an ear out for what they’re saying, as it’s likely a foreshadowing of what is to come in future content.
Just as there are only six different Sever missions, there are only six different Calus Automaton locations aboard the Derelict Leviathan. Additionally, despite the fact that two missions are paired up with one another, namely Shame and Reconciliation, Grief and Forgiveness, and Rage and Resolve, only one automaton can be found per each mission. As new Bound in Sorrow quests are unlocked, Guardians will gain access to that week’s Sever mission, allowing them to find all locations of the Calus Automatons. Additionally, Guardians should be aware that no two automatons share a location just because two missions share a physical setting. For example, the Shame and Reconciliation automatons are in different locations despite each mission taking place aboard the same area of the Derelict Leviathan in Destiny 2. Once all six are found, players can claim the “Hear, Don’t Heed” triumph and progress their Reaper title.
Shame Calus Automaton Location In Destiny 2
The Calus Automaton location in Sever – Shame is the easiest to find out of all six, and it does not require Guardians to fight any of the Cabal or Scorn aboard the Derelict Leviathan. After beginning the Sever mission from week one of Season of the Haunted, place the first Ritual Amplifier and destroy the fuses at the other end of the corridor. Once the vent is unlocked, crawl through it until the next hallway is reached. Instead of heading left to continue the mission, turn right and the Calus Automaton will be at the end of the path.
Reconciliation Calus Automaton Location In Destiny 2
In Reconciliation, Guardians will have to progress further into the mission to find the next Calus Automaton location than they needed to for Shame. Continue through the mission until all of the Cabal are defeated shortly before speaking with Crow as the Nightmare of Uldren Sov lingers over his head. After pulling the two switches to reactivate the power, head to the other end of the hallway where the three Psions appear from. The Calus Automaton location from week two of Season of the Haunted can be found in the room where the Psions came from.
Grief Calus Automaton Location In Destiny 2
Although the Calus Automaton location for Sever – Grief is found early on in the mission, it can be easy to miss if Guardians are not paying attention to their surroundings. Once the mission begins, progress through to the garden area, but instead of taking the catwalk to the exit on the other side pause once the doorway is in sight. Turn right, and look through the water to find the next automaton location. This is where Calus will eerily state that the Egregore Spores connect him not only to all of the Automatons on the ship but to the Derelict Leviathan itself.
Forgiveness Calus Automaton Location In Destiny 2
The Calus Automaton location from week four of Season of the Haunted is relatively close to the location of the robotic replica from Sever – Grief. Progress through the mission and reach the point where enemies need to be defeated before placing the first Ritual Amplifier. After placing the first Ritual Amplifier, turn around to find the Calus Automaton in Sever – Forgiveness at the far end of the room in another hallway. The automaton can be found before placing the Ritual Amplifier, but it’s much easier to navigate the arena after placing it down first.
Rage Calus Automaton Location In Destiny 2
The Calus Automaton in Sever – Rage can only be located once the Guardian reaches the area where the immune Nightmare enemy spawns. Because the Nightmare is constantly chasing the Guardian throughout the enclosed area, players may find it easier to dispose of it first before searching for the automaton from week five of Season of the Haunted. Nonetheless, the Calus Automaton can be found by going through the door that opens up after shooting the fuse. Instead of pulling the lever and leaving, continue to the end of the hallway and take a right at the large red pipe. Follow the new path that is nearly void of all light, and the Automaton will be at the end of the hallway.
Resolve Calus Automaton Location In Destiny 2
The Calus Automaton from Sever – Resolve will be available to locate once the sixth week of Season of the Haunted is live in Destiny 2. This guide will be updated once the next weekly reset occurs on June 28 at 1 pm EST. Until then, Guardians should be sure that they all caught up on the Bound in Sorrow quests in Destiny 2otherwise, they won’t be able to finish the Hear, Don’t Heed Triumph for the Reaper title.
