9 Actors Confirmed For The MCU Movie (So Far)

Posted on June 21, 2022 By admin No Comments on 9 Actors Confirmed For The MCU Movie (So Far)

The Marvels is an MCU chapter that seeks to broaden its spotlight a little to include a partnership between three different superheroes. Carol Danvers will be joined by two other Marvel-themed heroes: Photon and Ms. Marvel, who were both established in WandaVision and the aptly titled Ms. Marvel series.

Set to be released on July 28th, 2023, The Marvels will be directed by Nia DaCosta, who recently directed the Candyman reboot, and written by Megan McDonnell, who previously penned two episodes of WandaVision. Ranging from the obvious to the unexpected, these actors are confirmed to appear in the highly anticipated sequel.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Updated on June 21st, 2022 by Melody MacReady: Since The Marvels is set to be a sequel to three different MCU projects, there is sure to be a large cast of characters. Some characters are obvious such as Captain Marvel and the other Marvels but for the most part, Marvel Studios have been rather secretive about this crossover.

This is definitely the case for the cast, with actors that have been confirmed to be in the film but their roles have been undisclosed. In another case, multiple actors were accidentally confirmed thanks to an accidental leak by an actor in the MCU; leading to speculation as to who else will be in The Marvel. For now, nine actors have been confirmed to be in the film which was delayed to July of 2023.

Zenobia Shroff

This actress along with several other cast members was confirmed via a now-deleted social media post from Zenobia Shroff herself. Zenobia plays Muneeba Khan on Disney + ‘s Ms. Marvel so it’s not that surprising that she will be returning along with Kamala in her cinematic debut.

She expressed her love toward the cast and crew of The Marvels and ended up revealing cast members that were not confirmed yet. It may have gotten Zenobia into a little bit of trouble but fans appreciated her dropping a few casting bombs.

Mohan Kapur

If Kamala’s mother is returning, then it should be no surprise that Yusuf Khan, her father, is also returning with Mohan Kapur reprising the role. Along with Muneeba, Yusuf is one of the most integral characters in Kamala’s story.

Yusuf has already been a show-stealer on Ms. Marvel, being such a charming and lovable father for Kamala, so he’ll likely steal a few scenes in The Marvels. This is one of the few casting revealed by Zenobia in her aforementioned post.

Saagar Shaikh

Thanks to Zenobia Shroff’s post, it has been confirmed that all of Kamala’s family will be returning in The Marvels. Saagar Shaikh will be reprising the role of Aamir Khan, Kamala’s older brother from Ms. Marvel.

How big of a role the Khan family will have is currently unknown. However, since The Marvels is going to be focusing on three different Marvel superheroes, the Khan family will likely have a shorter role.

Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L Jackson as old Nick Fury in Secret Invasion

It would seem that Nick Fury is going to be busier than he ever was in Phase 3. Samuel L. Jackson was another actor mentioned in Zenobia Shroff’s heartfelt post, confirming Nick Fury in The Marvels.

Considering how big of a role Nick Fury had in Captain Marvel, it should be no surprise that the sequel will have Carol Danvers reunite with her old friend. This might also hint that The Marvels could connect heavily to MCU’s upcoming Secret Invasion event which features both Nick Fury as well as the Skrulls who were also featured heavily in Captain Marvel.

Brie Larson

Brie Larson as Captain Marvel in Avengers Endgame

Unsurprisingly, The Marvels will feature Captain Marvel herself, played by Brie Larson after her successful yet unconventional origin movie. Carol’s near-unlimited power makes her an inspiring figure, but like Superman, it also limits the conflict in her stories.

At the end of the first movie, she took on the behemoth responsibility of singlehandedly protecting the entire universe. At the beginning of the second one, fans will be interested to see how she has been dealing with that responsibility and how she has fared.

Iman Vellani

Iman Vellani has already stolen the hearts of fans as Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel via her own origin story series on Disney +. Not only is she a megafan in real life but with Ms. Marvelshe has proven to be a talented actress with a bright future ahead of her.

In the comics, Carol is Kamala’s childhood idol and the reason she wants to become a superhero in the first place, so it makes sense for the MCU to pair them up. If Larson and Vellani’s chemistry in The Marvels is strong enough, Carol and Kamala could become the next best mentor / student relationship in the MCU.

Zawe Ashton

Zawe Ashton as Vod in Fresh Meat

Zawe Ashton has been cast in The Marvels in an as-yet-undisclosed role that’s reported to be the film’s villain. She previously appeared in The Handmaid’s Tale and the Netflix horror satire Velvet Buzzsaw. The Marvels will be Ashton’s highest-profile and highest-billed movie role to date.

The MCU has traditionally been accused of having a villain problem, but recent additions to the franchise’s rogues’ gallery such as Thanos, Killmonger, Agatha Harkness, and “He Who Remains” seem to have marked a tide change. With any luck, Ashton’s role in The Marvels will continue that trajectory.

Park Seo-Joon

Park Seo-Joon isn’t particularly well-known to western audiences yet, but he’s a pretty big name in South Korea, having starred in TV dramas like Kill Me, Heal Me, and Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youthand movies like Midnight Runners and The Divine Fury. He also had a cameo appearance in Parasiteone of the most famous South Korean films ever made.

He won’t be unknown to western audiences for much longer, however, as he’s been cast in a supporting role in The Marvels. Like Ashton, his actual role has yet to be disclosed, probably because the character name alone would be a major spoiler for the plot.

Teyonah Parris

Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau in WandaVision

Although Monica was reintroduced as a SWORD agent trying to live up to her late mother’s legacy, WandaVision ultimately gave her a superhero origin story as entering Wanda’s sitcom fantasy gave her the ability to absorb energy.

Parris is confirmed to reprise her role in The Marvelswhich could see her take up her crimefighting alter ego, Photon, which was also her mom’s callsign in the first Captain Marvel movie. Monica was shown to look up to Carol, but WandaVision hinted that Monica holds harsh feelings for Carol since she never returned to Earth.
