Parks and Recreation turned Andy Dwyer’s Chris Pratt into a star. Playing the lovable workplace goofball made him one of the show’s most liked characters before going off the air in 2015. Recently, Pratt spoke to Men’s Health about his time on the series and how the food that Andy ate affected him. As fans remember, Andy did not have the cleanest diet and ate as poorly as Ron Swanson.
“I can not believe I would eat five cheeseburgers for lunch. I lived in a constant state of ‘Oh, god. I’m freaking sick. I’ve eaten so much.’ And that was happiness at that time, “he told the publication. Nowadays, Pratt has never felt better in his body but his foodie moments were, at times, cringe-worthy. Reddit fans chimed in with some of the cringiest scenes in the series that gave them secondhand embarrassment while rewatching.
Crazy Ira And The Douche’s Radio Show
Parks and Rec. had some amazing characters but those did not include Crazy Ira and Howard “the Douche” Tuttleman. The two men were radio show hosts in Pawnee and had a nonsensical and graphic radio show that Leslie despised. Due to the show’s popularity, however, Leslie had to make nice to them to promote her political agenda.
While the two men did not appear too often, one Redditor despised any scene the two were in, writing, “Every single time Crazy Ira and The Douche appeared.” They continued writing, “I know their role was to be as cringe-worthy ‘manly’ as possible, but that sure did not stop me from hating them. Basically, it was a secondhand embarrassment. I mean, I kind of loved them. , but at the same time it was so terribly cringe-worthy and I wanted to die when they started talking and using those sound effects. “
There were more annoying characters on Parks and Recreation than Jerry, but Jerry was not necessarily loved by his coworkers, simply because he was clumsy and made countless mistakes. Contrastingly, Jerry was a hard worker who loved his job.
Although Jerry was sweet, there was one scene that was too embarrassing to watch. LaruaJane1833 wrote, “My cringe moment is when Ann and Chris tell Jerry / Terry / Larry that they’re expecting. The part where he talks about Ann breastfeeding – I can not handle it. Have to turn my head.” In the scene, Jerry does just that: he explained the beauty of breastfeeding while drinking milk and acting like a baby.
Officer Dave Was Far Too Desperate
Before Ben Wyatt came into the picture, Leslie dated a police officer named Dave and the two hit it off. Sadly, Dave moved to California and the two broke up while still longing for each other. Leslie eventually met and fell in love with Ben, which made strange things when Dave came back to Pawnee pinning over Leslie.
Instead of congratulating Leslie on her great relationship, Dave became desperate and tried keeping Ben from her. A Redditor wrote that it was this scene that was too hard to watch. “Lastly, Dave’s final appearance. He was a respectable character in his original storyline with Leslie, but that whole scene in the bathroom was just uncomfortable.” This episode ended up being an important episode for Ben and Leslie because it proved how much Leslie wanted Ben.
THAT Ice Rink
‘The Comeback Kid’ was one of Parks and Rec’s best episodes because it showed how dedicated Leslie and her parks and rec. team was in launching a new campaign for Leslie’s go at city council. In the episode, Leslie’s big event was held at an ice rink, which made it difficult to walk across the ice to the podium.
As Gloria Estefan’s “Get On Your Feet” played over the speakers, Leslie and her team continuously slipped on the ice, creating one of the longest embarrassing moments in the series. Wade_Wilson_Watts explained how cringey the scene was: “And to make it worse, there’s hundreds of people there watching her, including her original campaign team that she’s trying to prove wrong. It’s so embarrassing and uncomfortably long. It absolutely makes me cringe a bit. “
All Ben Wanted Was For His Interns To Respect Him
Although Ben Wyatt loved Pawnee, when he was given a great job opportunity in Washington DC for a short time he took it and brought April with him as his assistant. Ben was in charge of a group of people, including a younger batch of interns.
“When Ben is sucking up to the interns in DC. I cringed throughout the entire episode,” Coolioasjulio wrote. As always, all Ben wanted was to be liked so when he felt like his interns did not respect him, he became cringier by trying even harder to be liked. It was a neverending rollercoaster of awkwardness.
Tom’s Fake Accent
Like many of his coworkers, Tom did not love working for the parks and recreation department. He was a wannabe businessman with some great ideas, or so he thought. Whenever there was a chance to act out at work, he took it. This included whenever a beautiful woman walked into the office.
Skyblueleaves wrote, “[I] can not believe no one is saying this, when Tom fakes a British accent in front of that girl Nadia he was trying to get with and he gets burnt in the episode pretty early and omfg when he starts to talk in the British accent I always cringe. “Nadi ended up falling for Tom, which meant the gig was up on his fake accent …
Leslie Should Have Given Ron Space At His Boys Club
Ron and Leslie were one of the best duos on Parks and Rec. Although they were incredibly different, they worked perfectly together because what the other lacked, the other had. However, their friendship did hit a few rough patches in the series, especially in season 1 during one of Ron’s infamous boys’ nights.
Leslie wanted to be a part of boys’ night so bad that she altered her personality to be one of them. Bitterfuzzy found this scene one of the cringiest. “For me, it’s’ Boys’ Club. ‘ Leslie’s behavior ranges from awkward to just plain awful … a perfect example of what a terrible character she could be in season 1. “
Leslie Tried Way Too Hard At Her Bowling Mixer
Leslie was one of the more likable characters in Parks and Recreation because of her redeeming qualities. She was thoughtful, focused, and a great friend. With these qualities, she was hoping her fight for city council would have gone smoother but, as it turned out, there were a few members of Pawnee who fund her unlikable.
To be seen as one with the people, Leslie threw a bowling party to be seen as personable. However, what transpired left fans feeling embarrassed for her. ZeneParker told Reddit, “For me it’s the bowling one. Watching Leslie try so hard to impress that d ** chebag who is so beneath her is painful to watch.”
When Ann Didn’t Know Chris Broke Up With Her …
Things were right in the world of Pawnee when Ann Chris started dating. They were different enough to keep each other guessing but similar enough to respect each other. After a couple of months, Chris realized that he and Ann would be better off as friends since he was not going to stay in Pawnee forever. The problem is that Ann had no idea that Chris broke up with her because he was so nice about it.
This gave ccwillie second-hand embarrassment. They wrote, “Also, when Ann Perkins doesn’t realize Chris has broken up with her and tries to kiss him the second time when they’re discussing the relationship.” Ann was mortified when she found out they were broken up and she had no idea.
Mark In The Entire First Season
For some fans, it’s not a scene that gave second-hand embarrassment but an entire character. Mark Brendanawicz was in seasons 1 and 2 and was not the most lively of characters.
In a thread about second-hand embarrassing characters, fans were quick to mention Mark for how bland he was. Klapaucius wrote, “I think everyone did their best to forget about Mark.” They continued saying, “And do not forget Mark, who might be the least compelling sitcom ensemble character ever. His departure was like tossing ballast out of a hot air balloon.”
