The second coming of Harry Potter was the most awaited sequel ever. Fans had seen and read the magic of The Sorcerer’s Stone and were clamoring with excitement when The Chamber of Secrets was finally released back in 2003. The appeal of the Wizarding World has extended till the present day and the second installment of the adventures of The Boy Who Lived is as popular as ever.
Memes are easily the most relatable and prevalent form of pop culture media, and the beloved movie has been the subject of countless hilarious memes. In fact, the whole of The Chamber of Secrets can be summed up perfectly with the help of this bite-sized content.
Dobby’s Perfect Excuse
This installment of the franchise had a very different beginning, with Harry being stopped from going to Hogwarts by a determined little fellow named Dobby. At that time, Dobby had no reason to stop him from going to his favorite place, but if it was the time of a pandemic, he could have given Harry the perfect excuse of online classes.
Dobby’s conviction to save Harry was awe-inspiring and could have worked had circumstances and world events been in his favor at the time.
Mrs. Weasley’s Best Son
There may be unpopular opinions about Molly Weasley and her love for Harry, but her fondness for the one boy who was not her biological son is still quite meme-able. The Chamber of Secrets was the first time when Harry visited The Burrow, and he experienced the warmth of the other Weasleys for the first time.
She had a soft corner for Harry, which was sweet considering he had no parents or parental figures at that time, and she certainly prioritized him over Ron sometimes.
Flying Cars to Hogwarts
Iconic best friends, Ron and Harry, knew how to make an entrance – whether that was by scrambling into class late or making surprise returns. However, the one entrance that no one will ever forget occurred in the second movie when they drove a flying Ford Anglia to Hogwarts School.
While the audience had seen how terrifying it was for the boys, this amusing Spider-Man perfectly meme captures how the citizens in London must have felt when they saw the event occur. Although he has fought alien entities and machine-like villains, even he appears surprised and amazed by the flying vehicle.
Good Guy Tom Riddle
Tom Riddle was bad to the bone, but students would be grateful to him in their school days as his folly of opening up the Chamber earned them freedom from final exams – and one dead classmate. He did what nobody else could do since he was the Heir of Slytherin, and Hogwarts had to make students move back for their own safety.
The younger, future Lord Voldemort was in the nascent stages of his evilness, which was enough to make Hogwarts’ machinery and for the rules to break down (as seen in the flashback).
Draco’s Prediction About Ginny
In a fantastic moment of foreshadowing, Draco’s snide remark about Ginny and Harry came true at the end of Harry Potter. While the young witches and wizards shopped at Flourish and Blotts for their schoolbooks, Draco took the opportunity to be rude to Harry.
A defensive little Ginny stood up to his bully, and revealed her feelings for Harry too soon. There’s no way Draco was being serious, but his commenting passing made him a truly brilliant soothsayer.
Hagrid’s Achilles’ Heel
Hagrid and his magical creatures were a never-ending love affair, and also his Achilles’ Heel. He loved his animals to the ends of the Earth, – even if they really did not love him back. He had been framed by Riddle for opening the Chamber of Secrets because of his love for Aragog, but it’s scary to think what would have happened if he had actually done it.
In all likeliness, Hagrid would have tried to get to know the Basilisk better, which would have led to his death by its gaze. His affection for creatures would be his downfall, yet again.
All The Spiders
Of his many fears, spiders were Ron’s biggest nightmare. He was absolutely terrified of them, which audiences found out in the second Harry Potter movie.
In the process, they learned that spiders also fled from the Basilisk too. This meme depicts the mind-blowing discovery that fans made, after realizing that a creature that kills by sight would be deadlier to those with eight of them. Even the biggest of them was petrified (pun intended) of the thing in the Chamber.
Dobby And The Sock
One of the most honorable things that Harry did was setting Dobby free. He gave him a new lease on life, even if it was just to annoy an arrogant Lucius Malfoy.
This birthed the iconic phrase “Dobby is a free elf!” Few other catchphrases are as memorable as this one, and it definitely makes for a sassy meme about the noble elf.
The Chamber Of Love
It may be called the Chamber of Secrets, but the hidden room played a rather large role in bringing the two biggest couples of Harry Potter together. Harry and Ginny spoke at length for the first time when they faced the threat of the Basilisk and the Horcrux diary, and Ron and Hermione gave in to their passions when they were collecting Basilisk fangs in the Chamber.
Something about the Chamber brought people closer together and created some of the most legendary relationships in the Wizarding World.
The Sword Of Gryffindor’s Anomaly
There are not too many loopholes in The Chamber of Secrets, but the Sword of Gryffindor is a big one that fans are trying to figure out to date. It made its first appearance in this movie, as Harry pulled it out of the Sorting Hat, but he shouldn’t have been able to handle it if a part of Voldemort’s soul resided in him.
However, not only could he hold it, but he wielded it successfully against the Basilisk and the other Horcrux, the diary, without so much as a flinch. This was perhaps because he was, in essence, a true Gryffindor.
