Star Wars continues to thrive in its new home at Disney + with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series now at the focus. The show is garnering lots of attention and views, sparking loads of discussion, and of course tons of new memes, online.
The series centered around the once great Jedi master who has been forced into exile but has been given a new mission to protect an important ally. New Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes drop every Wednesday and will continue to give fans new meme material for the foreseeable future.
10 So Uncivilized
Obi-Wan is no stranger to using a blaster but it’s clear he prefers the weapon of the Jedi with his lightsaber. During his battle with the cyborg villain General Grievous, Kenobi lost his lightsaber and had to adapt.
After finishing off his foe with a couple of well-placed blaster shots, Obi lets his distaste for his enemy and the weapon be known. His newfound use of blasters is just one way in which Obi-Wan has changed since Revenge Of The Sith.
9 This Is The Darth Vader You Are Looking For
The return of Darth Vader is one of the show’s biggest appeals and the larger-than-life villain gets right to his dastardly ways. One of the very first things that the iconic baddy does is snap the neck of an innocent bystander.
Fans may have been worried that the family-oriented Disney may not like to portray Vader in all his wickedness but those concerns seem to be force choked out with one swift snap in one of Kenobi’s biggest surprises.
8 Not Another Bait and Switch
Star Wars fans who tuned in to the previous series set in a galaxy far far away will recognize the humor in this meme. The Book of Boba Fett veered off course a bit by switching out the title character for the star of another series.
Its unlikely that the Mandalorian makes an appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but given the popularity of crossover events now and the murkiness of the Star Wars cannon nothing is impossible.
7 So Close Yet So Far
Desperate for the approval of Lord Vader, Reva spends her days hunting the illusive and infamous Obi-Wan Kenobi. Overlooking the city, Reva knows the Jedi is out there but still can not pin him down.
She gets so close that they could basically talk to each other, something this Simpsons based meme captures perfectly.
6 When You Can’t Keep Up With A 10 Year Old
During her capture, the 10-year-old Leia is quite the elusive prey who is able to give some intergalactic bounty hunters the slip on more than one occasion. Either she is unbelievably quick for her age or these are some of the worst bounty hunters the galaxy has ever known.
Leia has always been more than capable in a sticky situation, but to completely leave her pursuers in the dust as a 10-year-old is nothing short of comedically unbelievable. While the show gets many of Leia’s characteristics right, this one seems a bit far-fetched and too goofy.
5 Whose Show Is It Again?
Although Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan is the title character, a lot of attention and fan support for the return of Hayden Christensen, this timing donning the iconic helmet of Darth Vader.
So far Christensen has not disappointed, giving fans some great Vader moments – a far departure from his reception in the prequel trilogy. With Christensen back in the show, it hints that there will be many more appearances of Vader to follow, and even, potentially, a moment where he loses his helmet and fans finally see the long-term effects of his and Obi-Wan’s last battle. .
4 These Two Have A History With Fire
There seems to be a fascination with and pull to fire that is always surrounding Kenobi and his once apprentice. Whether it’s at the funeral of Qui-on Jinn, dueling over lava on Mustafar, being force-dragged on burning sand, or another funeral, these fellas sure do spend a lot of their time burning.
Nothing recalls a memory like a familiar scent, and while it may be inappropriate for Kenobi to have a fond reminiscence of the good old days at a funeral, the smell of fried Vader was sure to jog something in the memory bank.
3 Some Men Just Want To Watch The World (And Their Enemies) Burn
Kenobi’s most powerful antagonist is back and he is out to send a message to his old master. When the dark lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, shows up to continue his hunt, he wastes no time wreaking havoc on the surrounding area and people.
Like the girl in the meme, Vader takes pleasure in the destruction around him and wants nothing more than to make the people who betrayed him suffer.
2 The Perfect Jedi Hideout – Wendy’s
After the execution of order 66, the Jedi have scattered all throughout the galaxy, some with better hiding spots than others. Apparently, one Jedi decided to hide at a local establishment, the modern-day real-world equivalent of hiding in a local restaurant, like a Wendy’s.
The joke of course a reference to the viral post about a Wendy’s order taker and the foolishness that the fast-food worker has to put up with. Having the Grand Inquisitor interrogate this poor worker is also surely above his paycheck.
1 It Has To Happen At Some Point, Right?
Fans all know this scene has to be coming at some point during this show. The anticipation of seeing Liam Neeson reprise his role as the master Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn is something that this point is expected, more than hoped for.
The show even takes note to show Kenobi reach out in an attempt to contact his old master with force. It’s the thinly veiled foreshadowing that would leave fans utterly outraged if no such scene happen during the series.
