MCU’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness was recently released on Disney +, and fans have now access to many rewatchable hours of the crazy and scary multiverse adventures of Doctor Strange and America Chavez, facing the powerful Scarlet Witch.
Sam Raimi does not hold back on shocking moments with his horror trademarks, but the multiverse movie also features an emotional depth of Wanda’s pain. The chaos provoked by Wanda’s wish to be with her children made the insane events of the movie hard to explain, but luckily there are some hilarious memes to sum it up.
Wanda Is More Savage Than Smart
Wanda Maximoff was smart enough to read the Darkhold, study, and learn all the evil spells within, but she could never figure out that America Chavez was only able to go to another dimension when she was extremely scared. Unfortunately for Wanda, the film was directed by Sam Raimi, so the horror factor was a must.
Throughout the movie, the Scarlet Witch prefers being extravagant on her chases and dream walks with the most frightening and biggest monsters. When she decides to appear as her own self, she does very spine-chilling entrances where she seems to be imitating ghosts or demons from horror movies.
Wanda Being A Reasonable Mother
Despite killing Masters of the Mystic Arts, superheroes, civilians, and any other living creature that got in her way, Wanda believed she was being reasonable and that she was acting like any other mother would. Technically, in her reality, her children never existed.
Even though there were moments in WandaVision that foreshadowed Wanda’s villain arch, nobody could have predicted the boundaries she crossed and the many lives she took in the movie. Her transformation from a loving mother to an evil murderer scared her own children, who for sure looked at her as Danny and Wendy looked at Jack in The Shining.
Strange Could Have Thought Of Other Solutions
Doctor Strange came up with the idea of everybody forgetting Peter Parker and did not hesitate too much in making it happen. On the other hand, when Wanda was causing chaos in the multiverse and killing many innocent people to be with Tommy and Billy, Strange appeared to be under the influence of his own spell of memory loss.
Being able to erase the entire world’s memory of Spider-Man’s existence was one of Doctor Strange’s powers that proved he is the strongest Avenger in the MCU. Yet, it is baffling how he could not apply the same spell on the Scarlet Witch to forget her kids, which demotes him as the second most powerful Avenger next to Wanda.
Strange, Chavez, and Palmer Act Like Every Horror Movie Character
Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer have outstanding intelligence; however, no one can escape the behavior laws in horror movies that oblige characters to act like fools in order to build up suspense. That was the case when Strange, Palmer, and Chavez were running away from Wanda and closing doors behind them to gain time.
When they finally made her stop, instead of running away and taking advantage of the time they were trying to gain in the first place, they stare and wait for her to make a move. Definitely, the three would never be considered the smartest horror movie characters, and if it was not a Marvel film, they would be the first characters to die.
Doctor Strange Is Weaker Than Wanda
Doctor Strange was one of the most important superheroes in the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. After all, he was the one that saw more than 14 million realities and did everything in his power to make sure his dimension was the only one that won the battle against Thanos.
The evil Titan from space that had the power of the infinity stones was incredibly powerful, but even so, Strange never seemed to fear him as much as he did Wanda. Although he and Chavez found a way to defeat her, Stephen went through more trouble than necessary to stop her than all the other issues he had to face with Thanos.
Wanda Is Terrifying
Wanda has proved multiple times how she is the most powerful character of the MCU since the very beginning. Although she acquired much more power later, she could go inside people’s heads when she was barely understanding her superpowers. As fans remember, she was even able to manipulate a demi-god’s (Thor) thoughts.
In Avengers: Age Of Ultronshe needed to be standing behind one person and do a little hand trick to mess with someone’s mind. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness showed she can do it from a far distance and appear in anybody’s thoughts to scare them with a simple “run.”
Wanda Goes On A Brutal Killing Spree
Nobody can say Wanda does not come with the fastest, most brutal, and creative solutions to killing powerful enemies. She proved her quick and sadistic thinking when she eliminated Black Bolt’s mouth. She could have killed him any other way, but she preferred this way of Black Bolt’s own powers backfiring.
Wanda killed the remaining Illuminati members, but Black Bolt’s death caught the audience completely off guard. It only shows Wanda’s incredible powers and how she did not hold back on producing the most violent deaths on them.
Wanda Becomes Thanos
Black Bolt was not the only one to face a ruthless death in Wanda’s killing spree. Reed was turned into string cheese, or spaghetti, depending on the viewer’s perspective, which reminded many of when Thanos used the reality stone to cut Mantis and Drax into pieces and spirals.
Wanda despised Thanos because she had to kill Vision in order to destroy the mind stone, only for the titan to revert time, revive him, and kill him again in front of Maximoff. Fans can agree that Vision’s death set the catalyst for Wanda’s villainous arcs; however, she seems to forget that and acts just like the villain that caused her incurable pain.
Billy And Tommy Become Song Writers
Though this multiverse movie is directed by Sam Raimi, this particular scene where Tommy and Billy sing the ice-cream song seems to be directed by Hallmark. It’s almost too cheesy to bear and made almost every viewer cringe. It is understandable that the movie tried to present Wanda’s children as perfect and innocent angels, but the song took it a little bit too far.
Although it has the virtue of being so bad that it is funny, it’s why it is hilarious to imagine Black Bolt using the song as his quasi-sonic scream.
Scarlet Is A Witch
At first, she was a bad guy that fans could root for. She was working for HYDRA but not without a good reason. She was one of the many war victims that had suffered greatly because of Tony Stark’s military weapons, and when Ultron tried to kill everyone, she quickly changed sides and helped the Avengers.
The second time she became a villain, she was dealing with the grief of having lost Vision and that drove her to kidnap a whole town, but only to do heart-warming sitcoms. Despite being a “bad guy,” she was likable, but after becoming a terrifying witch, most fans are not sure if she will ever be appreciated again.
