10 MCU Couples’ Chemistry, Ranked Worst To Best

Posted on June 11, 2022 By admin No Comments on 10 MCU Couples’ Chemistry, Ranked Worst To Best

Thor: Love and Thunder‘s July 8 release date is quickly approaching, and Marvel fans continue to learn new developments, like Melissa McCarthy denying her appearance despite set photos. Although the cast and crew have remained hush-hush about these speculations, the MCU movie will mark Jane Foster’s return to the big screen as Mighty Thor and reunite with her former love interest, Thor.

But Jane and Thor aren’t the only couple in the MCU. Some have shared an entire life and family like Tony and Pepper, while others have been short-term like Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer. Regardless of what stage these relationships are in, romantic love is a big part of the MCU — but not every couple has the same level of chemistry.

10 Sersi & Ikaris

There is a surplus of heroic characters in Marvel’s Eternals, all possessing unique powers and personalities. For Sersi, that’s matter transmutation, a skill she often uses to protect the human race. For Ikaris, it’s his laser vision, strength, and flying ability, most of which are used to fight whoever he deems his adversary.

The two couldn’t be much more dissimilar in nature, but they still marry and share literal lifetimes together. It’s obvious that there is a connection between them in the film, but for the most part, it derives from Ikaris’ intense personality. Their buildup as a couple is quick and ends just as quickly.

9 Stephen Strange & Christine Palmer

Stephen Strange and Christine Palmer did not have a long-lasting relationship by any means, and their screen time is minimal compared to other couples in the MCU. However, it is still developed well enough to understand Stephen and Christine’s history.

A few key scenes prove that there is a strong bond between these two characters. One of them is when Christine arrives at Stephen’s apartment in the first Doctor Strange film. His attitude and hurtful words are a blow to their relationship, but it is a real moment of awareness for the audience. It’s telling the couple’s complex history and everything they’ve shared.

8 Clint & Linda Barton

Clint and Laura Barton’s relationship was a shock for Marvel fans. It was long speculated that Clint and Natasha Romanoff were a couple based upon the infamous Budapest comment and moments in the comics. But everything changed when Linda appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron as Clint’s wife.

The pair have since been featured in Disney + ‘s Hawkeye with each interaction building upon the life they have shared. It’s clear they have a bond of trust and understanding that does not falter in difficult times. They have a strong connection, but this could further be cemented by more screentime.

7 Peter Quill & Gamora

Avengers Infinity War Star-Lord Chris Pratt Gamora Zoe Saldana Kiss

The first Guardians of the Galaxy The film showed how much of a lothario Peter Quill was – or at least believed himself to be. But when he was introduced to Gamora, he met his match.

There are some unpopular opinions about Gamora, from her backstory to her romance with Quill. But fan opinions aside, Gamora and Quill’s chemistry is still undeniable. It’s seen especially when he introduces her to his beloved music, and it’s a moment where she truly comes out of her shell. It was no easy feat and could only be done if the pair had something between them.

6 Scott Lang & Hope van Dyne

The chemistry between Scott and Hope was palpable in the first Ant-Man movie, as Hope training Scott to wear her father’s suit was always bound to come with a certain amount of friction.

During the training montage where Hope taught Scott how to punch, it was painfully obvious that the two were developing feelings for one another. Their bond continued to grow tenfold in the second installment Ant-Man and the Wasp. As they both donned Hank Pym’s suits, Hope became one of Ant-Man’s best friends, biggest confidants, and only love interest.

5 Thor Odinson & Jane Foster

Thor and Jane Foster

Much of Thor’s origin story incorporated his meeting and falling for Jane Foster. As Jane is Midgard’s human scientist and Thor a Norse god and heir to the throne of Asgard, the two had their challenges. Still, Jane and Thor make one of the most relatable couples in the MCU.

From the moment Jane chastises Thor for smashing coffee cups on the ground, their chemistry went through the roof. The two instantly develop a curiosity and respect for one another in the films, but it does not feel forced. It comes off as completely natural, despite their many differences and eventual breakup.

4 Steve Rogers & Peggy Carter

Steve and Peggy met in Captain America: The Frist Avenger, and their relationship is enduring. Their time together was short-lived, but their admiration for one another grew quickly anyway.

They have great understanding of each other’s struggles and appreciate one another for their perseverance, a similar trait they share. Steve watches Peggy lead and be a true force in a male-dominated world, while Peggy admires Steve’s constant heroic and honorable actions. In the end, the pair reuniting was one of the best things to happen to Steve and the fans.

3 Wanda Maximoff & Vision

Wanda and Vision

The beginning of Wanda and Vision’s love story did not start off well in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that’s no surprise given they had other priorities regarding Ultron. After Avenger: Infinity War and WandaVisionthey proved themselves to be the most intimate but heartbreaking couple.

The episodic adventure decade by decade solidified their relationship and showcased their passion for one another, especially at the end of Wanda’s show as they said goodbye to one another. Their chemistry is so strongly felt that the pair separating again feels like a true loss.

2 Peter Parker & Michelle “MJ” Jones

Tom Holland’s first Spider-Man film did not introduce MJ as the primary love interest. It wasn’t until Spider-Man: Far From Home on Peter’s European school trip that sparks began to fly.

MJ and Peter have remarkable chemistry, with a lot to unpack. They’re young kids falling in love and the audience gets an opportunity to see that. MJ constantly makes Peter nervous and catches him off guard with her witty quips and her ability to announce that she knows he’s Spider-Man. Despite the couple’s sad fate, it remains hopeful that their romance somehow continues post-Spider-Man: No Way Home.

1 Tony Stark & Pepper Potts

Looking at romantic chemistry in the MCU, it’s impossible to not notice Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. They have grown immensely as a couple since the first Iron Manfrom their first kiss to raising their daughter together.

Their connection is undeniable through their crackly, witty banter. The tension between the pair is felt from the simplest and silliest moments like when Tony forgets Pepper is allergic to strawberries. It carries from the first time fans are introduced to them as partners and friends to their last interaction they have on the battlefield.
