Posted on June 3, 2022 By admin No Comments on 10 Burning Questions Viewers Have, According to Reddit

Old Enough! takes its audience through an adorable tot’s adventure of completing their first big errand. The tasks are simple in nature, but a great help to their family which gives the children a sense of independence and responsibility.

The children’s endearing determination and personality captures the audience’s heart and set the stage for entertaining commentary throughout each episode. With the rising fascination of the show’s young stars and premise, viewers take to Reddit to ask questions about the cutest bingeworthy show on Netflix.

How Old Is Old Enough?

One Redditor chavez_ding2001 said that they would love it “if someone would provide more information” on how the parents decide it’s the right time for their child to complete an errand like those that premiered in the show. Most of the children in the first Netflix season are around three to five years old, but there are some outliers, like, Hiroki, who was two years and nine months old at the time of his first errand.

There may not be a specific answer other than the parents’ personal preference, but with respect to cultural and societal structure, it does pose an interesting discourse about the right age to introduce new responsibilities to children. As for the show’s selection standards, an article from Nippon describes their selection process for the children to appear on Old Enough!

Are the Errands Really Safe?

Redditor saratonin84 wondered if the errands are actually safe for the children. It is reasonable considering the long distances they must travel on foot, sometimes across busy streets, on public transit, or up steep uneven hills.

While Redditor saltinthewind did try to explain the extensive preparation that goes into each errand to ensure the children’s safety, this article by The Guardian shares the details of the safety measures taken by the production team. The cameramen watch them every step of the way, and prior to each errand, the staff enact plans to mitigate traffic control and community intervention. There are also designated stations along the way where staff and security wait, either disguised as pedestrians or farmers.

Do The Kids Remember What Happened When They Were on the Show?

In one of the latest installments, after watching little Sota go through a rough day, having dropped several bits of food and having his favorite meal ruined for him, Juniper_Moonbeam states that they would love “to see an interview with [Sota] and see what he feels about the experience in retrospect, or even if he remembers it. “

It is interesting to think about, considering Sota’s on-screen change of heart towards eating fish. While Sota’s story may not be available, Nippon divulged about their interviews with previous children cast members in a “years later” segment that takes a look into how the former child star felt during their time on the show.

Will There Be More Subbed Episodes?

Redditor prototypist wanted to know if there will be more “translated episodes” released. It would be a delight for the fans of the show to see more subbed content from the hours of material that came from the show over the last 30 years.

With the growing popularity of the show, which has thirty years’ worth of footage, it seems entirely possible that there will be more to come, despite the lack of confirmation from Netflix thus far. While a renewal with more subbed episodes of the original show has yet to be confirmed, there is a word of production of a spinoff of the series, which will take place in the United Kingdom (via Daily Mail).

Why Do The Kids Wear Bags?

Can Anyone Find that Outfit !?

A few Redditors absolutely adored some of the outfits worn by the children on the show, and want to know more about them, and where to find them. One Redditor Personal_Map_3138 wants to know about a pair of denim overalls, and tatertotbuns wants to know where to find the “green rain boots Miro” wore, saying they “cannot get over how cute they are.”

Some of the little outfits the children wear are too cute not to shop for after a good binge session of one of the best reality shows on Netflix right now. While specific outlets may not be known, fans could browse adorable children’s clothing on Okaidi or Tsukihoshi Kids with a similar charm as the outfits seen on the show.

Where Are the Kids Now?

User googleroneday asked if there are updates on the children from the show to get a glimpse into where they are now. A ‘where they are now’ episode may be just as beloved as the show itself since its rise in popularity with a larger audience.

While an overall update on all the children is not known, the “years later” segment includes current updates on the previous cast alongside questioning about their experience on the show. In the 30th anniversary of the show, one segment highlighted the wedding of one of the children filmed in the series, and another child star on an early season of the show had a child who they signed up to run an errand for the show later in life.

Are there Cut Scenes?

One Redditor bisbee333 wondered if there’s any un-aired footage where the “errands where the child must be rescued by an adult” or if there were any other failed attempts.

It is interesting to think about what could be learned behind the scenes when it comes to reality shows like this, where the children cast or the conditions they face on the day of the errand may be unpredictable. Maybe, once the season is up, the producers could show a few things that might not have gone to plan and how they adapt to the situation.

Are there Longer Episodes?

iloveokashi wanted to know if there are any longer episodes of the show. Part of the appeal and binge-able nature of the Netflix release is the condensed episodes, but with the growing love for the series, fans crave more episodes with longer runtimes.

Luckily, the answer is yes. The original episodes ran for a few hours, but, as of now, there are no official subbed translations for the other episodes. Some fans fully immerse themselves in the untranslated episodes while others eagerly await more subbed content.
